Kiss Vineyard

This flagship vineyard is grown on the tough clay/loam soils of the Pokolbin Estate vineyard. These naturally low-cropping vines consistently produce fruit with exceptional depth and concentration. The fruit from these vines produce the benchmark Shiraz for Thomas Wines, expressing the very best qualities of each vintage. The first vintage of Kiss Shiraz was in 2001, and since that time this label has received countless wine show awards and accolades.

Dam Block Vineyard

A tiny 0.8 hectare block just across the dam from our flagship old vine Kiss Shiraz. It shows similar dark blue fruits as well as the distinctive savoury texture and al-dente tannins of this pedigree vineyard, but at a slightly more affordable price.

The fruit from this site has always been an important component of our Two of a Kind and Synergy Shiraz, with a few barrels making the grade for Elenay over the years. The inaugural 2015 single vineyard release proved very popular with our customers, and it has since become a permanent installment within our range.

The Cote Vineyard

Sourced from the famous (and controversially named) Cote d’Or vineyard in central Pokolbin. The vineyard lies at almost 200 metres above sea level, on a steep northerly aspect of the ridge directly south of the Audrey Wilkinson Oakdale property. Cote d'Or was one of the first vineyards established by the Wilkinson family in 1866 by Alfred Wilkinson and his son Frederick (Audrey’s father). It was the fraternal home until the death of Alfred just before WW1. The original vineyard has long been pulled out, but seven acres were replanted on this ridge in 1971. The vineyard is dry-grown on relatively deep brown loamy soil, and scattered with permian fossils.

Sweetwater Ridge Vineyard

The vineyard formerly known as Belford vineyard sits within Ridgeview Estate, Belford, at the end of Sweetwater Road. Planted in 1998 almost certainly with the same clone (1654) of Shiraz as the original Sweetwater vineyard that we no longer have access to. The red/brown loamy soils over limestone found in this area tend to provide a distinctive floral lift and complexity to Shiraz.

Hunter Valley Shiraz

The Hunter Valley of New South Wales, the birth place of Australian Shiraz, is renowned for producing it's own unique style of Shiraz. Hunter Valley Shiraz exhibits a distinctive flavor profile, with deep, inky hues and robust notes of ripe dark fruit, peppery spice, and earthy undertones.

  • Hunter Shiraz is proudly medium bodied, with a distinctively savoury structure and food friendly texture. An inwardly concentrated core ensures the best examples of Hunter Shiraz have amazing long term cellaring potential. The modern style of Hunter Shiraz is a far cry from the wines of yesteryear.

  • The contemporary style displays an aromatic fruit purity and vibrancy, all framed within a regional, medium bodied structure. This, together with a more ‘hands-off’ approach to our winemaking, has allowed the true character of each vineyard to shine through - just the way wine should be.
